Based on experience
Steve was the primary career for his mother-in-law Dorothy for the last 6 years of her life. He wrote Paradise Lodge to try and make some sense of Dementia.
Sophie helped to care for her Gran, Marjorie, for 10 years. When Steve approached her to be a part of the show she felt honoured to be able to do it in memory of her Gran. She based her character with dementia, Vi, on her Gran.
This show is dedicated to Dorothy and Marjorie

AUDIENCE REACTION
Here's a few of the reviews we've been receiving from our audience members -
Absolutely blown away. Beautifully written, Cleverley crafted and perfectly executed. It treats the subject of dementia with humour, compassion and insight - all shot through with pervasive sadness. Go see, people.

Fabulous show, so emotive and funny. We absolutely loved it. Cried and laughed. Tough subject to talk about but it was done in the most wonderful way

Saw this show last night, absolutely loved it. As a career of someone with Alzheimer's I could completely relate to the subject matter; the highs, lows, hilarity and heartbreak of managing someone with this condition.
Fiona Banks
What an amazing performance. I enjoyed every minute. Had me laughing, crying, singing. So much talent. Thank you for a wonderful night out. You certainly gave me a lot to think about and a totally different perception of dementia.
Sandy Jaroz
I saw the Bury performance on Thursday night and was completely wowed by it. Such a wonderful touching play, beautifully written, cleverley staged with fantastic performances. I laughed lots and cried a little bit too. sadly dementia touches most families to some degree and this play deserves to be seen by more people.
Kerry Burgoyne
This play could only be done as good as it is by someone who knows and although anyone would enjoy it, I think those of us that have been or are caring for someone who is going through this will feel this deeply. Thank you for a great night, everyone should see this.
Claire Jones
Brilliant performance! Heartwarming, sensitive, humourous script. Raised much awareness of this terrible disease from all people involved in connection with it. From careers, family, outsiders and the people themselves suffering. Well done!
Christine Hall
Absolutely brilliant! I laughed, cried and it brought back memories (happy) of my Grandad before he passed. The evening was full of laughter and humour - 10/10 from me.
Emma Jane
This was great, well written with real insight coming from close observation of old age. The excellent actors brought the 'almost dead' to life and took us on a journey of emotions from tears to laugh out loud.
Anne Tomlinson
We went to see this last night as a family. Wonderfully written and delivered brilliantly. It deals with important issues surrounding dementia from both a sufferers and a carers point of view. Funny but also sad - we laughed and cried! Well done to all involved - the standing ovation was totally deserved. Also, the play does a fantastic job of raising awareness surrounding dementia - great job!
